This one semester course seeks to prepare students to decode English vocabulary by understanding the meanings and applications of Latin and (some) Greek roots. Lessons will focus on comprehension, vocabulary, analysis, synthesis, and reasoning skills and knowledge needed to understand and use high-utility words and phrases in context, evaluate texts rhetorically, and make connections between topically related texts. This class also prepares students for testing (such as the SAT and ACT) by engaging students for the Four Domains of the SAT Reading and Writing section:
